Magical Kingdom Sudoku

(Published on 30. June 2020, 20:55 by JonnyKaufman)

Normal Sudoku rules apply. Digits cannot be within a king's move in chess of the same. Thermometers work as normal - increasing starting from the bulb. Green square is the "Crown Jewel" where two thermometers meet.

EDIT: This is the original version with givens in the central 3x3 box. The version on CTC has an identical solution and was updated after I published the puzzle here in order to eliminate givens. You may agree or disagree with this decision. Cool. Just have fun!

This puzzle is also available to solve on Magical Kingdom Sudoku.

This is the first puzzle in my series of Thermo Design Puzzles. Please check out the others via links below:

2. Zigzag Thermo Sudoku.

3. Jukebox Thermo Sudoku.

4. Thermo Arrow Sudoku.

5. Thermo Sandwich Sudoku.

Solution code: Rows 8 and 9. No spaces/punctuation.

Congratulations on making it to CTC!

I can't tell you how happy I was to see the magic square version and that Mark mentioned my username at the end :D

P.S. My favorite opera is Carmen but I also like anything Verdi or Puccini.

@Narayana, Thank you! It was such a great idea, and I was thrilled to hear Mark credit you at the end because that was all you. Regarding the operas, that's exactly the rep in my wheelhouse! Since the majority of houses are still shut down, I've spent this time mostly working on Cavaradossi in Puccini's TOSCA :)

That was a magnificent puzzle. I think you may have underestimated the difficulty as it usually takes me less than an hour to solve an average difficulty puzzle. Still had a lot of fun solving this one and the ending was very satisfying.

@emmettcito, thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it, and I appreciate the feedback. I'll be sure to keep this in mind with future puzzles.
