There is a purely logical solving path, which however makes heavy use of arithmetical tricks.

Great killer sudoku concept! I got a bit sidetracked trying to figure out possible arrangements of non-caged cells in boxes 2/4/5/6/8 and was spotting a ton of weird restrictions given the sums of all cages in both puzzle corners - but once I figured out the trick for restricting the middle of the puzzle (and thus many of the killer cages), it all came together nicely. Tough trick/arrangement, but great concept. I also like that the puzzle symmetry meant my calculated restriction applied in two different directions/dimensiond - which helped relieve the requirement of having to keep track of all the sums in my head. Cool puzzle!

This has to be one of the most fantastic puzzles I have ever solved. It remained consistently difficult throughout the solve, and I was especially impressed with the initial trick. Well done!
