Snake Egg Sudoku

(Published on 31. May 2020, 00:19 by Phistomefel)

This puzzle is a combination of a classical Sudoku and a Snake Egg Puzzle.

The usual sudoku rules apply. Additionally, a snake has to be drawn into the grid. Head and tail of the snake are in the two cells with the gray circles. The snake may not touch itself orthogonally, but it can touch itself diagonally. The rest of the cells without the snake form exactly eight orthogonally connected areas, one of each size from 1 to 8. These areas may not touch each other orthogonally, but they can touch diagonally. Such an area of size n contains each digit from 1 to n exactly once.

Here is an example on a 6x6 grid for illustration, where the rest of the cells form five areas of size 1 to 5.

But now for the real puzzle. It is also available online via Penpa-Edit. Have fun solving!

Solution code: 7th row and 2nd column

Super gut! Ich bin ja nicht der größte Fan von Schlangen (und bin im Händeln selbiger auch nicht sehr gut), aber das hier hat mir wahnsinnig viel Spaß gemacht. :)

Thank you for the positive feedback!
@Circleconstant314: The simplicity of a question depends on the viewpoint. After you found them they are more likely to seem simple. ;-)
@cmusson32: This is indeed a rough start into the world of snake egg puzzles, as this particular one functions quite different due to the additional sudoku constraints.

Very fun, that was my first attempt at ever solving a snake egg puzzle and it seems like it was a rough introduction! 1 hour 47 minutes of entertainment though, thanks phistomefel

As usual Phistomefel, every one of your puzzles makes me feel like a total moron because I never ask myself the most simple of questions, yet they are the only questions that lead to the answer. This was an ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT PUZZLE!
