Akari Sudoku

(Published on 24. May 2020, 23:24 by DanjerBob)

Normal Sudoku rules apply. There are 2 "lightbulbs" in the white cells of every row, column, and 3x3 box. Lightbulbs illuminate the cell they are in, as well as their row and column. The light stops when it reaches a grey cell or the outer frame. All white cells must be illuminated and a lightbulb cannot illuminate another lightbulb.

Grey cells contain clues: if there are no lightbulbs orthogonally adjacent to a grey cell, it must contain an 8 or a 9. If there are 1, 2, 3, or 4 lightbulbs orthogonally adjacent to a grey cell, then it must contain a 1, 2, 3, or 4, respectively.

A lightbulb will always have a value of 5, 6, or 7. Remaining cells that are not lightbulbs or clues may have any value.

Solution code: Row 1 and 9

Perhaps I am not understanding the rules? The given grey 9 rules out the three cells adjacent to it from being light bulbs. The given six illuminates the bottom row in the square containing the grey 9. So the only remaining 2 squares the the 3x3 box containing the grey 9 would illuminate each other. Is the puzzle broken?

-hi, the given 6 may or may not be a lightbulb. Illuminated white cells may be any value.

I tried very hard to make the rules clear this time. Good luck!
