To Christmas 2018 some eager puzzlefriends have again arranged a group in which everybody had to make anonymously a puzzle for someone else. These puzzles are now presented one after the other here in the portal.

Penguins at the North Pole

Apparently the North Pole is always good for a surprise. While many publications have been made about its magnetic characteristics, it seems like their influence upon the fauna is almost unexplored. How else it might be explained, that only recently a strange relation has been noticed between the settlement of penguins around the North Pole and its covering with magnetic plates.

Therefore the complete North Pole area is completely covered with magnetic plates (in this case as well magnetic as neutral) and penguin colonies. The magnetic follow their normal rules, but the penguins always live in groups of seven; neighboured colonies can touch diagonally but never orthogonally. Furthermore the penguins seem to use their available space quite optimal; in the whole mapped area no 2x2 square has been noticed without at least one penguin.
