Nachtrag: Die Testlöserin

(Published on 6. October 2017, 00:00 by moss)

Also many thanks for test solving. One could say my test solver is to blame for this creation ;-)

Place the given polyominoes in the diagram. They may be rotated and reflected and they may touch but not overlap.

Additionally, place the numbers 1 to 8 exactly once in each row and column. Numbers in the grey cells indicate the number of edges of that cell being on the border of at least one polyomino. All those numbers are off by one, i.e. the number of edges is one smaller or one larger than the number in the grey cell. All possible grey cells are given.

The boundaries of the grid and the polyominoes divide the numbers in each row and column into blocks. Each number is in exactly one horizontal and one vertical block and there is at least one number in each block (an edge of a polyomino at the boundary of the grid does not bound an empty block).
The numbers at the border indicate the sum of digits in the first block from that direction. All numbers are off by one. The correct sum is either one smaller or one larger than the given number. For an example, see here).

Solution code: Row 5 and column 3
