Sudoku Variants Series (206) - T-Crossword Sudoku

(Published on 7. November 2017, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every Tuesday. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

T-Crossword Sudoku
Place the given list of words into the grid (across or down) to form an interlocking crossword, so only the words in the list are formed and no others. Within 3×3-blocks, the cells occupied by letters (digits) must form a “T” in any one of 4 possible orientations. Each “T” consists of five cells. One letter (digit) is already placed, and all words must be used. After the placing of all T’s, solve the sudoku with standard sudoku rules.

Inspiration for this variant comes from Nikola Zivanovics test Sudoku Day.

Nach dem anfänglichen Sortieren läuft das doch sehr flüssig ab.

Looking to the difficulty rating and the 'bewertung', it seems people use T&E for this one. That is not really necessary, apart from a limited number of eliminations in the beginning.
