Sudoku Variants Series (190) - Blackout Sudoku

(Published on 18. July 2017, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every Tuesday. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Blackout Sudoku
Place digits from 1 to 9 in the white cells such that each row, column and 3x3 box contains different digits.

Solve online in F-Puzzles or CtC-app (thx Nick Smirnov!)

Solution code: Row 2, followed by column 3 (B for black cells).

Hello! I came up with what I thought was a completely original idea, but the user SudokuExplorer told me you had a rather similar idea, and indeed, that is pretty similar! Only I used the digit 0 which is used in sums and with added constraints, so I think it's still fairly original. :)
I really liked your puzzle (I loved the hidden... um, ok, no spoilers!) and would be absolutely honored if you checked mine!

Can digits repeat in a box, column or row? Must the digits be different only between for instance two boxes or also between any given box and any given row?
----
What is meant by the rules is that digits may not repeat within a box, row or column. It may be very well that two distinct boxes miss the same digit.

@Eisbär: But you know, that this is not a "correct" 9*9 Sudoku?

This is confusing... every time I want to be very careful but I'm still making wrong decisions... :-)
