Sudoku Variants Series (146) - Five Pair Sudoku

(Published on 13. September 2016, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every Tuesday. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Five Pair Sudoku
Place the digits from 1 to 9 in every row, column and 3x3-block. A grey area contains five different digits. Each digit appears exactly twice in that area.

Inspiration for this variant comes from Sudoku Cup #8.

"A grey area contains five different digits."

Does this mean there exists at least one grey area for which this is true, or is it for each that it applies?
