Japanisches Summen

(Published on 4. September 2015, 21:14 by berni)

Staying in a japanese concert hall while the visitors enter the hall, you'll hear some sort of humming, which is not the conductor but the visitors.

To understand this, you need to know, that the tiers in japanese concert halls are numberd with a poem called iroha, which consists exactly of all japanese sylables once.

And that's what one hears, when the Japanese enter the concert hall and look for their seats.

Furthermore, Japan is well known for its folding arts, for example the art of folding notes, called origyokufu. A real master of this art is able to fold notes in such a way, that the result is a rectangle of numbers. That's quite usefull, because rectangles of numbers are more handy than notes.

Recently I got to know such a marvel. The humming, written as notes, on the left side has been folded by a real master to the rectangle of numbers on the right side.

I've got an other humming from a much larger concert hall, and I'd be happy to have it folded too. Maybe, someone knows the art of origyokufu and can help me out?

Solution code: The last row of the rectangle of numbers; S for black cells.

Very nice. Even after I finally worked all the pieces out, it was still a challenging puzzle.
