Wichtel 2014 (8): Verflixte Knallfrösche

(Published on 15. March 2015, 14:02 by wichtel)

To Christmas 2014 some eager puzzlefriends have again arranged a group in which everybody had to make anonymously a puzzle for someone else. These puzzles are now presented one after the other here in the portal.

Crazy firecrackers

In Puzzletown (already mentioned in the puzzle 00023R) fire crackers have settled. In each row and column of the houses exactly one of these troublemakers is now sitting. They do not touch each other, not even diagonally.

Making his visiting tour Santa Claus notices that from each house in Puzzletown he can see at least one of these nasty companions. He can't see undisturbed from each house in all directions since the inhabitants have decorated their houses quite Christmasy. (These obstacles are shown by the thick cell edges in the diagram. The numbers are hints for the loop in the second part of the puzzle.)

But nevertheless Santa Claus is able to find out the place of each fire cracker. Of course he wants to dispose them.

So he starts his loop on the lines between the houses, coming to each house at least once (so in each cell at least one edge is used by the loop). In order to get really rid of the nu crackers he has to use three edges around each cracker (so cells with fire crackers have the hint number 3). The given thick lines are part of the loop.

This search for fire crackers is based on the puzzletype Igel, invented by Hausigel (Roland Voigt).

Solution code: For each row (top to bottom) the column position of the crackers and the sizes of the areas outside the loop, clockwise starting top left.

Tatsächlich, so geht's, danke!

@rob: Letzteres ist der Fall.
