Sudoku Variants Series (062) - Rossini Sudoku

(Published on 3. February 2015, 00:00 by Richard)

For this Sudoku Variants Project I have planned to publish a different Sudoku variant every Tuesday. I will see how long it takes before I am running out of ideas.

Rossini
Place the digits from 1 tot 9 in every row, column and 3x3-block. The arrows outside the grid indicate that the first three digits are in ascending or descending order (the highest digit is at the sharp end of the arrow). If there is no arrow outside the first three digits cannot be in either ascending or descending order.

Solve online in Penpa+ (thx Nick Smirnov!)

Solution code: Row five, followed by column 5.

@ohm0123: so far 36 players have rated this puzzle at 'very nice'. If you understand the logic of this type, it is not very hard; in this case it is very helpful to look at places without an arrow outside the grid to proceed.

It's very hard. It's not nice at all.

@Sunhokim8: In your solution there are multiple places where the first three cells are in- or decreasing while there is no Arrow outside the grid. This is not allowed.
