Krypto-Yajilin

(Published on 5. March 2015, 10:00 by CHalb)

Replace each given letter by a number. Equal letters indicate equal numbers, different letters indicate different numbers.

Blacken some empty cells in the grid and put arrows in hint cells without arrows (only orthogonal directions). Each number in a hint cell is the total number of black cells in all the arrow directions. Black cells do not touch each other orthogonally. All empty cells form a closed loop going horizontally and vertically through the cell centers and passing every empty cell exactly once. There may be blackened cells that are not pointed by any arrow.

Solution code: For each row from top to bottom the number of bends in the loop.

N --> R, E --> I, A --> C, R --> H etc.

Re-placement of the letters I originally used:
N --> R, E --> I, A --> C, R --> H etc.
So in the former activated version you could read NEAR, RING and NEARING.

I prefer pwahs' question "Why AEGINR instead of ABCDEF?":
1. to make you think about such questions.
2. in order to provide a structure that has - not only with respect to the pure letter positions - a certain resemblance to the correct letters: Three quite english words.
What I wanted to say with the second crypto layer: I'm going to replace the current letters by other letters soon.

Gute Frage!

Warum AEGINR statt ABCDEF?

This version of the puzzle might well have a second crypto label. I think I have to change this soon ;).

No, no chance, sorry. Neither for the A nor the E.
At least I hope so :).

Is there by chance an arrow missing on the "E" in the 4th row?
