Hurray for Arvid!
Today my best puzzle friend Arvid is celebrating his 41st birthday.
This is my present for him.
Congratulations!
In my opinion, one of the nicest things about the puzzle portal is that puzzles from one author give inspiration to another author, whose puzzle, in turn, inspires again another author. Sometimes whole series of puzzles are born this way and this keeps the portal a vivid place.
One of the biggest series that are formed was the famous 2358 series. It was started by Arvid. Therefore I have made a 2358 sudoku for his birthday and September 2012 will be 2358 month.
Sudoku 2358
(This puzzle is a variant of the sudoku 1~9.)
Place the digits from 1 to 9 in every row, column and 3x3-block. Numbers outside the grid are the sum of the digit(s) between 2 and 3 in the corresponding column or between the 5 and 8 in the corresponding row. A zero outside the grid means that the two digits are placed directly next to each other.
Solve online in Penpa+ (thx Nick Smirnov!)
Solution code: Row 5, followed by column 5.
