Poly - Sequence

(Published on 2. October 2009, 02:17 by zhergan)

Last night a friend of me came to me and asked for a little help. He had come across a puzzle in a math magazine. He said he hadn't time and he took a photo of the puzzle as follows:

Under the photo it is stated that all figures are regular polygons (means all sides have equal length) and all numbers inside the polygons are determined using the same logic. My friend seems so sad because he had no idea about it. Can you help my friend to overcome this puzzle and make him feel better?

Solution code: Enter the number that must be written inside the decagon instead of the question mark.

Hi,

I decided to give some hints for this puzzle:

*** In the puzzle text it is stated that all polygons are regular. It is known that some quantities of regular polygons are equal. I can say that you must use one of these quantities for solving purposes.

*** You must keep in mind that this puzzle is a multi-stage one. This means that you must apply an operation to correct quantity to reach the result.

Hope these help for the puzzlers interested in solving. And I also want to apologize from those who solved the puzzle without these hints since it would be much easier to obtain a solution with them. Sequence puzzles generally attracts me. For some of them it is easy to catch something about what the author had thought while constructing. And for some it is really hard to guess the rule. I think this one belongs to the second group and because of this I decided to add some hints.
