The Evil Ennead

(Eingestellt am 4. Februar 2025, 21:53 Uhr von heliopolix )

This is my take on a "mean-mini" style puzzle, but on a full 9x9 sudoku grid. I hope you enjoy it!

Rules:

  • Massive Mean Mini: Take a set of 9 digits from 0 through 15, and place them in the grid so that each digit appears exactly once in each row, column, and 3x3 box. The letters A-F can be used to represent the digits 10-15.
  • Clues in the puzzle are ciphered with hieroglyphs. Each hieroglyph represents a different digit from 0 through 15. A cell with a hieroglyph contains that digit. A two-digit clue has a value equal to SIXTEEN times the leading digit plus the trailing digit. The leading digit in a two-digit clue may not be 0.
  • X-Sums: A number outside the grid in BLACK gives the sum of the first X digits in that row or column, where X is the digit in the cell closest to the given clue. X may not be 0 nor larger than 9.
  • N-Sums: A number outside the grid in RED gives the sum of the first N digits in that row or column, for some value of N from 1-9. Different clues may have different values of N.
  • Cells at the bottom of the grid have been provided for tracking purposes.

Streamers have permission to use this puzzle.

Lösungscode: Enter digits in tracking cells below the grid: the top row left-to-right, followed by the bottom row left-to-right. Use the letters A-F for the digits 10-15.

Hahaha this was so fun. What setting! Kind of mad to think, "what complements my hieroglyphics here? Why, passing to a radix of 16, of course!" I really enjoyed this! Some great interactions among the clues, great brain-stretching fare. Evil indeed! Thank you!

That was super fun - lots of maths and some very interesting combinations.

Math *IS* hard... and it's harder when you're not told which digits are which! That said, this is another herculean feat of setting. Incredibly innovative, thematic, challenging - everything you might be looking for from a heliopolix puzzle.

This was a lot of fun and constantly kept switching which number base my brain was thinking in throughout. (Typical to whichever one didn't currently need to be applied!)
