Uneven Gems

(Eingestellt am 21. Mai 2024, 08:00 Uhr von Imparabel)

This is the first time, I created a puzzle with my own variant. I hope you like it!

Make sure to use the examples below, for a better understanding of the rules! :)

Normal Sudoku rules apply

Global Rule:

  • All odd digits are orthogonally connected to each other. (e.g., all odd digits in Box 1 are orthogonally connected to the odd digits in Boxes 2-9)
  • Every even digit has at least one orthogonally adjacent even digit (not necessarily in the same box/cage!). There are no isolated, even digits (1x1 islands).

Blue Diamond:

  • Indicates the total count of even digits that are orthogonally adjacent within its own cage.
  • A blue diamond always has at least one adjacent odd digit within its own cage.
  • Blue diamonds cannot be the same as other blue diamonds in orthogonally adjacent cages.
  • If there are no even digits orthogonally adjacent to any even digit in a cage (Islands), a "1" is entered in the blue diamond, see Example 1.
  • The adjacent even digits do not need to be all connected to each other (they do not need to form a snake), see Example 2.

Red Ruby:

  • Indicates the sum of the numbers between two blue diamonds, see Example 3.
  • The red ruby in column 8 can indicate the sum of the numbers between S8R2 & S8R4 or S8R4 & S8R7, or both. The solver must determine which gap is being indicated.

Green Emerald:

  • Indicates how many odd digits between the green emerald and the first blue diamond in the corresponding row/column are, see Example 4.
  • Blue diamonds, if odd, don't get counted.

Cage:

  • The number in the top left corner of a cage indicates the number of odd digits within the cage. Not all cage numbers are given.

Kropki Dots:

  • Digits separated by a black dot are in a 1:2 ratio.
  • Digits separated by a a white dot differ by 1.
  • Not all dots are given.

Little Killers:

  • Numbers outside the boxes indicate the sum on the diagonal indicated by the arrow.

Very fun solve! I loved the uniqueness of the ruleset, was a little intimidating at first but it flowed together really smoothly. Would love to see this be a series!

@styngerr Thank you very much for that nice feedback! I‘m glad you enjoyed my puzzle :) that‘s why I added so many examples, I thought this ruleset might be „a little much“ at first glimpse ^^ Actually; I want to make it a Series! After my next puzzle, I‘ll create a new „Uneven Gems“-puzzle, would love to see you then :)

Wow! A pretty wild ruleset (I had to check the examples a few times) but very satisfying to complete.

@chis_r, I‘m glad you enjoyed the puzzle and the wild ruleset! I‘m happy that you had good use for the examples & thanks for the kind words! :)
