Japanese Sums: Pentomi-ones

(Eingestellt am 27. Februar 2024, 00:58 Uhr von Niverio)

While setting the 8th Liar Japanese Sums entry, I had an idea in my head. I liked it pretty much, so decided to set it completely individually from the liars, as the idea wasn't really compatible with the liar series. This puzzle is pretty difficult, but it should get a lot smoother after the first few steps are found :) Enjoy!

Special thanks to Myxo, MicroStudy, Bellsita and zzw for the quick group test after the puzzle was set.

Rules:
Japanese Sums: Shade some cells in the grid such that clues outside the grid indicate the sums of the continuous blocks of unshaded cells in that row or column. Place digits from 1-9 in every unshaded cell such that no digit repeats in a row or column. At least one shaded cell must separate the blocks.
No Tens: In this specific puzzle, all Japanese Sums clues only indicate the ones-digit of their value. So a 6 clue can be a 6, 16, 26 or 36. The real values must be deduced by the solver.
Pentominoes: Shaded cells in the grid form pentominoes (orthogonally connected groups of 5 shaded cells). Each of the 12 unique pentomino shapes appear once on the grid (rotations and reflections do not count as unique). Pentominoes cannot touch orthogonally, but may touch diagonally.

Puzzle Links:

The column with the Pentomino names is only provided as a help to track which pentominoes have already been placed.

Lösungscode: Column 5, for the shaded cells use the Pentomino letter.

Absolutely bonkers, what an idea for the break-in but after that, the puzzle still remained resilient till the very end. I better chill myself with something 'relaxing' next time xd

Very clever idea for a break-in! I would rate this higher on beauty, but unfortunately one of the clues is blue.

I agree, you are crazy! I found this puzzle super difficult. I came back to it a few times after making literally no progress but decided to stick with it this time. I’ve no idea how you went about making this :D thanks for the puzzle!
