This is the third entry in a serie of puzzles using a combination of killer and mirrored digits, exploring further properties of their twisty arithmetics. If you've never heard of mirrored digits, I suggest you take a look at this relatively easy 6x6 puzzle first, and/or the more challenging 9×9 puzzle I made after that.
My answer to the question in the title in hidden comments :)
The puzzle :
Play on Sudokupad (answer check)
Rules :
- Normal 9×9 sudoku rules apply.
- Killer : The values of the cells in a cage must sum to the total in the top left corner. Digits may not repeat in cages (but values may repeat).
- Mirrored digits : In every row, column and box, is a mirrored digit. It takes the value opposite to its own value on the 1-9 scale. (In other words, 1 takes the value of 9, 2 the value of 8... 9 the value of 1) Each digit 1-9 is mirrored once.
Enjoy ! And consider leaving a comment if you appreciate the puzzle !

@tesseralis : Thank you ! I'm glad you did not let Simon spoil the pleasure :) Sometimes it can be tempting to just sit back and watch him work his magic through a puzzle !

Among the most wonderfully twisted ideas for an opening that I've ever seen in a while!
The solve was full of non-stop 'wow' and 'aha' moments, and the delicious icing on this was probably determining what 22 cage and 32 cage finally were ;)

Brilliant puzzle! This is a puzzle that I wouldn't be able to solve few years ago coz' I definitely didn't know the trick.
---
@samuel1997 : Thanks :) This trick being so universally known among the sudoku/puzzling community by now, I would have normally never used it in a puzzle. But with the twist of the mirrored digits, it becomes less clear how that trick comes into play and that makes you think a bit more about it.
