T In the Corner (10 Cages)

(Eingestellt am 22. Juni 2023, 19:34 Uhr von gdc)

Okay, it's not exactly a T because there is something kinky going on. The left end of the "T" doesn't even see the right one. Maybe there is a greek letter that looks like this? Greek letters have all kinds of funny shapes. There must be one that does this kinky T thing. Pi maybe?

(trying to find a matching greek letter on wikipedia)

There is another one somewhere down there: tau! Now, how do I connect R.E.M. and greeks to this puzzle? There must be something they all have in common. Maybe I'll make it about this moody greek god who shoots laser beams. "Unfaithful windbags! Consider THIS spotlight!". Pew! Pew!

(laughing, but then realizing there is no "laser god")

Maybe I shouldn't go to those lengths and just address the puzzle directly. But that would work better in a puzzle about four cages. Four cages that form a wall! You'd get colored 31 pairs all over the grid! Actual 31s could only be placed at the end, unless you're "break-in" the puzzle.

(singing: "all in all it's just a-nother three or a one")

Play Online: CTC, CTC (uncolored), Sudokulab

Rules

  • Normal Sudoku rules apply. Place the digits 1 through 9 in each empty cell. Digits must not repeat within the same row, column, or box.
  • The digits in a cage must sum to the number printed in its corner. Digits may not repeat within a cage.
  • Cells on either side of the inequality symbol must have values that abide by the indicated relationship.

Lösungscode: Row 1 without spaces

Thanks for all those positive comments. Glad to hear that this is still approachable for newer solvers!

@Calvinball: I'd say "Nashville" and similar ICHTUES puzzles were my strongest influences. If you mean one of those: yes, They are much harder than what went for here :)

I only just started to attempt solving these myself after watching CTC for the past two months consistently after only here and there before. Took me forever, 182m..., but adored it. Lovely work!

I really liked this puzzle, it uses some really cool tricks without ever being too tricky. I'm not sure if this was intentional but it brought back memories from a highly regarded (and much harder lol) puzzle from a few years ago.

Thanks for taking your time to set this!
