Thanks! I saved the rule about the caged digit only in box 1 to near the end. But I never needed it in the solve! I did check it at the end to make sure I got the right solution.

I pencil-marked a guess in Box 9, thinking it would quickly lead to contradiction. Eighty digits later, all pencil-marked, I lucked into the solution. Someday I'd like to understand the proper break in on this one!
