Position Sums Fillomino #2

(Eingestellt am 23. Oktober 2022, 05:47 Uhr von ONeill)

This puzzle draws inspiration from the remarkable Compass Fillomino series by Magnus which features a ring in the middle of the grid.

For reference, this grid is 13x13 with the central 5x5 missing. This one is less approachable than the first but no single step is too difficult. I hope you enjoy!

Rules:

1. Divide the grid into regions so that no two regions of the same size share an edge. Enter a number into each cell equal to the size of its region.

2. Let A and B be the digits in the first and second cells of the grid from any direction
a) Unshaded clues outside the grid indicate the sum of A and B
b) Shaded clues indicate the sum of the digits in positions A and B from that direction. Note that it is possible that A and B index the same cell. If A and B index the same cell, the sum is twice the value of the cell they index.

3. If a clue is circled, the cells that are part of its sum belong to the same region. If a clue is not circled, the cells that are part of its sum belong to different regions.

4. A question mark can stand for any positive integer (including 2-digit numbers).

Note: Although this grid has cells missing, indexing works as usual. That is, if r5c1 is indexing r5c13, its value is 13. For any shaded Ath+Bth clue, A and B cannot index a cell that would be in the central 5x5 area or fall outside the grid. Eg. 5 and 14 are not allowed in r7c1, but they are allowed in r13c5.

Very nice puzzle! It's always very satisfying to work out these seemingly impossible regions :-)

really great once again, felt easier than then the previous one, but perhaps I'm just getting used to this ruleset

Awesome puzzle, definitely my favourite of your puzzles so far! Some really great region geometry logic in this one, and there were indeed some compass fillomino-alike moments :). Challenging and very enjoyable!

Really cool puzzle! I think it is a big step up in difficulty from the first one, but with some great logic.

One remark: I am pretty sure the 22 clue on the right side should be circled, correct?

- Thanks a lot! You are most definitely correct, I will get that changed now.

If I wanted to index the cell in the last column in R5 for example, would this value be 8 (excluding central 5 cells), or 13?

It would be 13. I will clarify that in the rules, sorry!
