For the second puzzle in this series, I unfortunately had to resort to placing digits inside the grid. I plan to create some sort of follow-up where that (hopefully) is not necessary. Enjoy this one!
Rules
Fillomino rules: Divide the grid in regions, such that no two regions of the same size touch orthogonally. Each cell contains a number that indicates the size of the polyomino it is in.
Clues outside the grid indicate the distance to the first seen highest number in the corresponding row/column. So, starting from a clue X, the Xth cell from that direction is the first appearance of the highest value in that row/column.
For example, the 2 in row 2 means that R2C8 contains the highest number in the row (although R2C1 to R2C7 may or may not have the same value).
Solve on Penpa

A very good puzzle, thanks for sharing it! I came across it in an old Cracking the Cryptic video. (Title: "Sudoku Rules Do Not Apply!")

Excellent puzzle! It took me a while to get my brain to treat the ">=" constraints with sufficient care, but once I did it was a great experience with several "surely I've broken it??" moments where I had not broken it. Great stuff!

Very clever puzzle! I loved this sort of incrementation of region sizes.
