Complex Deductions

(Eingestellt am 4. März 2021, 08:50 Uhr von apiyo)

Normal Sudoku rules: Each row, column and 3x3 box must contain the digits 1-9 once only.

What's i to the power of 2 all about? In mathematics the letter i is used to represent the square root of minus 1. This is the called the imaginary unit since in our regular number system negative numbers cannot have square roots. As i is the square root of minus 1, i to the power of 2 is simply minus 1. (The imaginary unit can be combined with regular numbers to create what are called complex numbers; hence the name of the puzzle.)

Special cage rules: Each cage's digits were supposed to sum to square number totals, but our all powerful i squared has deducted one from each total. As such, cages must sum to either 3, 8, 15, 24 or 35, to be deduced by the solver.

Extra region: The pink i shape is an additional region that must contain each of the digits 1 to 9.

Normal Knight's move: Cells that are a chess Knight's move apart from each other must not contain the same digit.

Normal XV clues: Two cells joined by a V or X must add to 5 or 10, respectively.
