How Different

A Parity Difference Sudoku

by Alex Kilpatrick

Rules:

  • Normal Sudoku Rules Apply.
  • A clue in a circle denotes the difference between the sums of the odd digits and the even digits in the cells it touches.
  • If all the digits are either odd or even, the sum is compared to zero.

Example:

If two adjacent cells contained 1 and 4, their two-cell Parity Difference clue would be 3.

I can't help noticing - in your sample, you have a 4 in a circle - but it touches two odd numbers. Shouldn't it be "zero" then?

*** Oooh, wait - if all the digits are of one parity, then the other parity is viewed as zero for the difference. Okay. Possibly a slight rewrite would make more sense: "The sum is >compared to< zero" threw me off. Or maybe it's just too early in the morning, ha ha.
